A few things to know before you go

Planning your first visit, or wondering about something you’ve walked past a hundred times? Here are a few answers to help you enjoy the park.

Where is Colonial Lake?

Colonial Lake Park is at 100 Bridge Drive, Lawrence Township, NJ 08648, in the Lawrenceville area. Our guide to visiting Colonial Lake brings together directions, activities, and ways to meet other park neighbors.

What can we do here?

Walk by the lake, bring the kids to the playground, or make time for tennis or pickleball. You don’t need a big plan—sometimes a little time outside is enough.

How far is the walk?

The route was described as 0.9 miles in 2009. Treat that as a historical reference rather than an exact distance for today’s path. Choose a pace and distance that feel comfortable for you.

What should I check before visiting?

Hours, restroom access, dog rules, accessibility, and court bookings are worth checking before you set out. We’re still filling in those parts of this guide. Use the park and recreation links below, and follow current signs when you arrive.

What about fishing?

Before bringing your gear, check current state fishing rules and licensing requirements, along with signs at the lake. The fishing resource below is a good place to start.
